Camp Attractions Available to Large Group Rental and Environmental Education Groups

In addition to the local attractions, Large Group Rental and Environmental Education groups have access to Camp Oty'Okwa's over 700 acres of woodlands, caves, rock formations and wonders of nature unique to the region. Split Rocks, Counselor’s Cave and Hidden Cave are a few of the popular sites these groups may visit on the camp property.

Split Rocks is a two acre outcropping of Blackhand Sandstone rock formations offering endless opportunities to scramble around, climb or play "hide and seek" amongst the towering crevasses created by the split rocks. Try the challenge of our famous Fat Man's Squeeze, a narrow, dark corridor that tests the courage and curiousity of all ages in getting from one end to the other.

Or, meander down the stately forest trails to Counselor's Cave and Hidden Cave, both lying in deeply wooded hollows, surrounded by huge hemlock groves, sparkling streams and seasonal waterfalls. Their size and grandeur are awe-inspiring and not to be forgotten.

Discover the diverse plants and wildlife, home to many endangered species that live along the trails and streams. Hike the stream beds down to Pine Creek, stopping to observe salamanders, crawdads and water striders. Abundant species of birds prevail for the amateur and experienced bird watcher.

Take in the beauty of our colorful sunrises and sunsets that provide an atmosphere to reflect and relax. And, consider the night life of forest sounds with a canopy of constellations unable to be seen in cities. No matter what time of year, Camp Oty'Okwa's vibrant natural surroundings will fill you with peace and tranquility.
